This course examines philosophy and objectives of punishment in Canada. Students will learn about judicial methodology and penal policy of the Canadian government. Students will examine various sentencing options that are appropriate for particular crimes. Students may meet with different practitioners working with victims of crimes and punished offenders including probation and parole officers, judges and victims services workers. Prerequisite: CC100 or LY100. Exclusion: CT301.
